Excitement for The Game Awards 2020 is at an all-time high with less than a week to go. The annual awards show is known for providing all kinds of video game announcements each year, and although The Game Awards 2020 will look a little different due to COVID-19, a variety of announcements are still expected to be made throughout the show.

Over the years, the awards show has become known for featuring guest presenters from a variety of backgrounds, from industry professionals to celebrities with a love of gaming. With the recent announcement that voice actor Troy Baker and sports commentator Stephen A. Smith will be presenting at The Game Awards 2020, viewers can expect a similar variety of guest presenters as previous years despite the online format.

Today, host and creator Geoff Keighley announced via Twitter that former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime will be appearing as a guest presenter at this year's awards show. The former executive expressed his excitement for the The Game Awards 2020 on social media, urging fans to tune in to the livestream next Thursday.

Although it is currently unknown which category Fils-Aime will be presenting at The Game Awards, he is no stranger to the shows. Fils-Aime appeared as a guest presenter for The Game Awards 2019, presenting the award for Fresh Indie Game and recognizing the hard work of new independent studios who released their first game the previous year. After the recent announcement that the ex-Nintendo executive will co-host the 2021 New York Game Awards, Fils-Aime has made it clear that he is focused on staying involved in the video game industry any way he can.

Despite resigning his position as president of Nintendo of America in April 2019, Fils-Aime remains as ambitious as ever, taking up a position as the inaugural Leader of Residence at Cornell's Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. He is also serving on the Board of Directors for GameStop, Spin Master, and Brunswick Corporation.

Although Fils-Aime's appearance at The Game Awards 2019 didn't bring any special Nintendo-related announcements, fans are already speculating that his appearance at this year's show could mean some sort of announcement from the company. The head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, was also recently announced to be joining The Game Awards 2020, so it is nice to see both current and former figures of the gaming industry come together for this annual celebration.

The Game Awards will air on December 10.
