Reggie Fils-Aime has been one of the more important figures in gaming over the past two decades. His role at Nintendo cannot be understated, as he helped guide the company through difficult times and into prosperity. Fils-Aime retired from his position as President of Nintendo of America in 2019, and now he is writing a book to share his story.

Reggie made the announcement via Twitter today that he is authoring a book titled Disrupting the Game: From the Bronx to the Top of Nintendo that will release next year on March 24, 2022. According to the Amazon listing, the book will talk about many of Reggie's challenges throughout his personal and professional life. The lessons that he learned from being the son of Haitian immigrants growing up in the Bronx all the way to leading The Big N into a new age--while still maintaining Nintendo's beloved appeal--are shared in this upcoming book.

Among the other highlights, Disrupting the Game: From the Bronx to the Top of Nintendo will apparently go over Reggie's leadership style, perseverance, his approach to happiness, how to dominate the business world, being brave in the industry when others don't agree, how to create a vision, how to be creative, and more. The book will likely be heavy on Nintendo content, but that doesn't appear to be the only focus. Reggie has joined boards and found new work post-Nintendo retirement, and before Nintendo, he worked for companies like Pizza Hut and even raised $35 million for disaster relief after the September 11, 2001 attacks while with VH1.

It is also likely that the book will be filled with Reggie's iconic and memorable quotes, or perhaps create new ones. The Amazon listing itself recites his perhaps most unforgettable moment, the E3 2004 quote of "My name is Reggie, I'm about kicking ass, I'm about taking names, and we're about making games." Reggie, who has always been game for self-deprecating humor, loved being nicknamed the "Regginator," and still has fun with fans today on Twitter; could very likely take this book as another opportunity to enjoy interacting with the community.

Reggie Fils-Aime joined Nintendo in 2003. Although the GameCube is remembered fondly, he took over during a difficult time for the company and helped stabilize it, as well as transition it to monstrous success with the Nintendo Wii. He took over as President of Nintendo of America in 2006 and became the face of the company in many ways, along with Shigeru Miyamoto and the late Satoru Iwata. Reggie was a presence on the E3 stage, often showing off the next big thing, whether that would be a success or not. Reggie was ready when showcasing the Wii Balance Board, the Nintendo DS, Game Boy Micro, Wii U, and others. He rode off into the sunset with the triumphant Switch, and now his book appears to explain much of how all of that came to be.
