Heads up, Nintendo fans. The company has revealed that it will be performing a larger amount of maintenance work than usual throughout August and September. This means that, for the next few weeks, fans should be ready to see its online services go down for maintenance on multiple occasions, and for a few hours each time.

The details in Nintendo’s updated maintenance schedule confirm that four maintenance sessions are set to take place through mid-September, starting with a hour-long maintenance session for the Switch’s online network and followed by heftier four-hour sessions that will work on the Switch, 3DS, and Wii U eShops. While the first might affect the Switch’s online functionality while it’s active, Nintendo assured that “all network services will be unavailable” during the other three.

So that’s up to 13 hours total that Nintendo players won’t be able to go online in the coming month. Luckily, the first round of maintenance isn’t scheduled to start until next week, so they should have enough time to prepare and keep it from interfering with stuff like exploring other players’ islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons or taking on Pokemon Sword and Shield’s newest Max Raid event.

With that in, mind, here’s the full schedule:

These maintenance sessions come at an interesting time for the Nintendo community. This year has, in many ways, been a quiet one for the company, with fewer major releases and announcements. These have left fans upset thinking that the recent trend of announcing games like Paper Mario: The Origami King and Pikmin 3 Deluxe just months before launch is Nintendo making up for a lack of games to highlight through the usual Nintendo Directs (which have been largely absent in 2020).

All in all, though, that frustration hasn’t done much to curb the Switch’s momentum this year. As of Nintendo’s most recent financial reports, the Switch has sold over 61 million units, while its biggest 2020 title, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, has sold a staggering 22.4 million copies, making it the second highest-selling Switch title of all time in less than five months.
