Not long ago, the E3 2017 Game Critics Awards' nominee list was revealed, and now it has been declared that the forthcoming Nintendo Switch titles Super Mario Odyssey and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle are the big winners, with both games topping the lists of five categories in total. Most importantly, three of the awards that went to the games were the top categories being considered for the honors.
For starters, Nintendo's Super Mario Odyssey won the Best of Show award and Best Console Game, while Best Original Game went to Ubisoft's Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Additionally, those two titles were the only ones that won in multiple categories, with Odyssey receiving the Best Action/Adventure Game award over strong competition such as Assassin's Creed Origins and Middle-earth: Shadow of War, while Kingdom Battle topped the Best Strategy Game category.
As it so happens, Nintendo led all of the publishers by winning four awards, with the company having only been nominated in five of the 17 categories (the gaming firm's Metroid: Samus Returns won Best Handheld Game). The only category that the Big N didn't claim was Best Fighting Game, where ARMS was beaten by Arc System Works’ upcoming title Dragon Ball FighterZ. Bandai Namco, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, and Ubisoft each won in two categories, and those interested can see the full list of E3 2017 Game Critics Awards winners below.

All things considered, Super Mario Odyssey and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle's wins definitely bodes well for Nintendo Switch owners, as it shows that the console is at the very least slated to receive two well-polished and engaging games this year. With the system currently lacking a wide variety of major new titles at the moment, save for the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and ARMS, Odyssey and Kingdom Battle ought to beef up the Switch's catalog with some stellar gameplay upon their launch.
Nintendo's Super Mario Odyssey is set to launch on October 27, 2017 for Switch, while Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle comes out on August 29, 2017 for Switch.
