Many game developers have dreamed of working for Nintendo and being able to have a hands-on influence on their favorite game franchises. The dreams of some of these designers may come true with Nintendo of Japan's announcement for an open hire for 2D level designers to work at the Nintendo Tokyo office.

When it comes to examples of 2D games that Nintendo has in mind, the tweet pictures games such as New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and Yoshi's Crafted World. This makes it clear that Nintendo is looking for a designer that has experience with platformer titles or other titles with a side-scrolling perspective.

While this tweet can cause some speculation about what games Nintendo is planning on developing for the future, this is very important for developers looking for a job during this time. Looking into the application, however, reveals details on what applicants should expect from this job.

Since this is a job for a position in Nintendo's Tokyo Office, knowing Japanese in order to communicate with higher-ups and other team members is necessary for the job. However, developers don't need to have prior experience with other large game studios which can be a relief to many who have only been able to work on indie titles.

Reading further reveals that those hired will be put through a 3 month trial period with the company before the contract is discussed once more. Benefits include full payment for transportation, housing allowances, overtime payments, insurance, as well as others in case of transferring. Employees will also have Saturdays and Sundays off.
