Recently, a massive set of Nintendo assets were leaked to the public in a phenomenon which is being referred to as the Gigaleak. Though there are seemingly countless great finds within that leak, one thing which has caught the attention of many are the original audio files and assets for Star Fox 64.

As a Nintendo 64 game, Star Fox 64's game files were heavily compressed in order to properly fit on the cartridge. Because of this, the game's graphics, audios, and other features weren't quite as clear as they should have been, resulting in grainy visuals and scratchy audio.

Of course, these things only add to the nostalgia of the game, but the newly found audio files feature the uncompressed audio from the game. This means that for the first time ever, fans can hear how their favorite Star Fox characters sound with ultra clear audio and absolutely no compression whatsoever.

Above, fans can hear what must be the most iconic line from the entire game, "Do a barrel roll!", how it was meant to be heard. Of course, the compressed audio sound actually worked in favor of Star Fox 64 in many cases, as it helped give the feeling that the characters were speaking to each other through radios, but there's still something cathartic about hearing this line from Peppy Hare in all its glory. With some digging, players will be able to find other characters' voice lines uncompressed as well, and listening through them can really be a system shock for those that played the original game when it released back in 1997.

This video shows every line in the game in its uncompressed state, though the 25 and a half minute run time may be daunting to some. Thankfully, one of the top comments links the time stamps for most of the memorable quotes in the game. Now it's likely only a matter of time before someone compiles the best Star Fox game quotes from this leak and turns it into a soundboard so that 90's kids can geek out over these lines all over again.

As previously stated, the leak also contained a lot of other interesting files. Perhaps most notable is the inclusion of a black female pilot that was cut from Star Fox 2. Since the discovery, many are calling for her to become an official character in a future Star Fox game, as Nintendo has been confronted for lacking in diversity lately. In a similar vein, these unused Star Fox 2 portraits have been garnering attention due to how meme-able they are. Dataminers also found early designs for Yoshi and even the presence of Luigi in Super Mario 64 within the leaks.
