A new Nintendo Direct event could be coming in July if a previously reliable rumormonger is to be believed. No details were provided by the apparent leaker, so the event could be in early or late July. Or, if Nintendo is to be believed, there are no big Nintendo Direct events coming anytime soon.

The rumor comes from Twitter user KeliosFR. KeliosFR is known for leaking the March 26 Nintendo Direct Mini in mid-February. This time around, KeliosFR replied to a schedule of upcoming July events, saying, "You forgot Nintendo Direct (in July) :3" No Nintendo Direct has been announced yet, of course. It would be a big surprise if it turns out to be true.

It would particularly be a big surprise because Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said recently that it would be reconsidering Nintendo Directs going forward. Specifically, Furukawa said, "times change and so does the most effective way to promote products," going on to say that Nintendo could use different methods of informing the public in the future.

Whatever Nintendo's plans for the future, it's still accurate to say that it had planned on a long-form Nintendo Direct in June. That event was ultimately canceled. It's unclear if it'll return or if Nintendo will instead focus on Directs for individual game releases like it's done for the past 9 months.

If there's a July event in the works, it could be another long Nintendo Direct presentation, it could be focused on a single game like Paper Mario: The Origami King, or it could be something else entirely. It could also be a fake rumor, which is worth keeping in mind.
