As has becoming an increasingly evident through fan discussions online, a Nintendo Direct is currently in high-demand. Despite Switch owners having begged and pleaded with Nintendo to finally spill more information about where its flagship console will be going in 2020, it seems as though Nintendo intends to remain somewhat tight-lipped about its plans for the year, presumably gearing up for a big Direct in a few months time. However, it appears the company are looking to show off some more short-term plans incredibly soon, with the company announcing a new live stream that's much sooner than many would expect.

Revealed by the company's Twitter, Nintendo will be holding another of its regular Nintendo Indie World Showcases tomorrow, March 17, at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Although there aren't many details about what will be announced at the showcase, Nintendo did reveal that there will be around twenty minutes of information, which will no doubt unveil a number of major indie games making their way to the Switch in the coming months.

Naturally, these showcases always highlight a lineup of fantastic indie games coming to the Switch or other Nintendo consoles, with the last Indie World Showcase back in December putting the spotlight on titles like Axiom Verge, Streets of Rage 4, Sports Story, and Skatebird. The livestream always brings attention to smaller titles that might of slipped under Switch owners' radars if it wasn't for the showcase, which is great for both smaller developers and players looking for exceptional new experiences. Hopefully this year's first indie Direct will be filled with similar titles that manage to find a whole new audience of eager Switch players.

Of course, Nintendo fans are still waiting for a mainline Direct announcement, especially now that E3 has been canceled and the company will have to find another avenue through which to highlight their big titles for the latter half of 2020. It seems likely that Nintendo will simply announce the Direct meant to correspond with E3 for a different date, however, it's clear fans are growing impatient waiting to see what games they can expect to make their way to Switch later this year.

Yet, it seems players will be tided over with the upcoming release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which is shaping up to be a massive success for both Nintendo and the Switch. Reviews today have showered the game in glowing praise, while franchise fans seems more eager than ever to jump into the adorable life simulator. Hopefully, the title will keep players occupied while Nintendo prepares to unleash its next wave of killer exclusives.

Nintendo Indie World Showcase will be held on March 17, 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET.
