Nintendo Direct February 13 2014 Wii U 3DS

Anyone that's been following Nintendo lately will know that the company is not in a good way at this point in time. The Wii U is failing to be the hit that the company had hoped for, triggering the Big N to drop the sales forecast for the system, but some major titles are inbound for the platform that have the potential to reverse current misfortunes. Particular details pertaining to the release of these games are still largely unknown, but the house of Mario has some plans in place to rectify that situation.

The company has announced that a new Nintendo Direct presentation will be airing on February 13, 2014, and it'll have a number of Wii U and 3DS games on display. According to the official press release, the contents of this presentation will be made up of home and portable console games that are scheduled to release prior to the end of Spring 2014. This puts quite a few previously announced titles in the spotlight, but there's also plenty of room for additional surprise announcements.

The Nintendo Direct presentation will air at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET, which is a lot later than past Directs have gone live. The delay will allow many journalists and fans alike to get some much appreciated shut eye, and it'll likely be able to gain the attention of more consumers in the process.

If we were to fathom a realistic list of games that will be at the forefront of this Nintendo Direct, upcoming titles like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Yoshi's New Island, and Mario Kart 8 all come to mind. As for surprises, it wouldn't be unfathomable to suggest that another character for Super Smash Bros. will be announced — likely Yoshi or Diddy Kong to tie in with each character's upcoming game — and maybe even a new game announcement to begin building hype for the Wii U in 2014.

Game Rant will be covering any major announcements made during the presentation, so stay tuned for updates from the event. In the meantime, those planning on watching the event can do so here.

What do you think will be announced during tomorrow's Nintendo Direct?
