The Nintendo Switch continues to be one of the holiday season's most demanded gifts, with kids across the world excited to play the latest Mario and Zelda games. With Black Friday quickly approaching, Nintendo saw fit to do its part. Tuesday the company revealed three different planned discounts available for Black Friday 2018, so families and friends looking to gift a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo 2DS for the holiday can rest easy.

Nintendo will only have three Black Friday 2018 hardware sales, which may seem somewhat thin but is likely fitting given the console's continued success. These are the three sales that  Nintendo announced today:

  • Nintendo Switch + Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Bundle - $299.99
  • Nintendo 2DS + Super Mario Maker Bundle - $79.99
  • Joy-Con Wheel Set - $14.99

Both the Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle and the Nintendo 2DS Super Mario Maker 3DS bundle are limited edition offerings, with the Nintendo 2DS having a unique yellow and red look. There's no guarantee that these bundles will be available beyond the holiday, though there's always a chance Nintendo continues stocking the bundles if they prove successful.

Attentive shoppers may notice that neither the Nintendo Switch bundle nor the Nintendo 2DS bundle is actually discounted past their standard retail pricing. The Nintendo Switch continues to cost $299.99 and the Nintendo 2DS costs $79.99. The savings come in the form of the free bundled game included with each, as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe costs $59.99 retail and Super Mario Maker 3DS costs $39.99, making each bundle a reasonable discount overall.

Other Nintendo Switch bundles that will be available during the holiday season include the Nintendo Switch Fortnite bundle, which will retail for $299.99, and the limited edition Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Switch bundle, which will cost $359.99 and is available now (the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate digital download code can only be used after the game launches on December 7). Some retailers may also have bundles available from previous years, but the price is likely to remain the same.

As for Black Friday sales on specific Nintendo Switch games, holiday shoppers will have to peruse individual retailers for discounts. Nintendo is likely to do a digital sale for games closer to Christmas, but there's no promise it will deliver anything else for Black Friday.

2018 will go by without a significant discount on the Nintendo Switch, it seems, but hopefully the allure of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle will make holiday Nintendo Black Friday shoppers happy nonetheless.
