In recent years, fans have learned not to expect very much from Nintendo when it comes to E3. The company has shied away from spotlight presentations at the video game conference and have instead opted to make its major announcements through Nintendo Directs or Nintendo Treehouse streams. That said, following the launch of the Nintendo Switch, the company is planning to have a big year at E3 this time around.

In a recent interview with Fox News, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime explained that Nintendo has some big things up its sleeves heading into this summer's event. The company seemed to already reveal most of the big upcoming games for the Switch through this holiday, but perhaps there are some other titles in production that have yet to be revealed.

Here is Reggie talking about the company's strategy for the event...

"We look at each E3 as a unique opportunity to tell our story. And we're gonna have a big E3 this year. We're going to be showcasing a variety of games."

Although the Switch has been getting all of the attention, Reggie went on to assure 3DS owners that there will be some exciting news for them during E3, as well.

"I'm not gonna tell you all of the various games and all of our little secrets for E3, but I can tell you that E3 is going to be a major opportunity for us to showcase not only Nintendo Switch, but also content coming to Nintendo 3DS."

Assuming Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2 hit their release windows, June 2017 should be a very good time to be a Nintendo fan. Hopefully the Switch's lineup of games will continue to grow at a steady rate from there and, according to Nintendo so far, 3DS owners won't be left behind. Although both devices now occupy the mobile space, Nintendo plans to continue developing software separately for both devices for the foreseeable future.
