Damon Baker of Nintendo announces that the company will be revealing something big on Monday, leaving many to speculate about what’s to come. Stay tuned.
Nintendo fans everywhere have reason to get excited as Damon Baker, Nintendo of America’s senior manager of licensing and marketing, has revealed that the company will be making a big announcement this Monday.
During a Nintendo World Report live podcast telethon, raising money for Child’s Play, Baker teased fans of the Big N, stating:
“Speaking of announcements, I wish I could tell you guys, but stay tuned for Monday. Monday there’s going to be something… something happening on Monday. It’s going to be big.”
Baker closed off his comments by telling fans: “Stay tuned, it’s going to be good.”
With not a lot to go on, Baker’s words have inspired a lot of speculation from Nintendo lovers. The senior manager has been involved in a lot of indie game related projects in the past which may point towards an announcement more along those lines, such as a sequel to the Humble Nindie Bundle that the company released a few months ago.
Many fans of the popular large-roster fighting game, Super Smash Bros., believe that the announcement may be to do with the game’s personal Smash Direct, which will be making an appearance sometime this month. The direct will be the last major update to the 2014 game and will likely bring with it a few new characters, including the recently revealed Cloud Strife.
It’s also possible that the announcement might be related to the company’s next console, currently titled the Nintendo NX. The Big N have been very quiet regarding the development of the new device, going as far as to keep the devices name a secret, despite claims that the NX will be mass produced in 2016. With the release coming so soon, perhaps it’s time that Nintendo revealed the true name or appearance of its next entrant to the market.
Also still waiting to be announced is the latest mystery character to be added to the Pokken Tournament roster, which is supposed to be revealed before the year is up. Whilst this wouldn’t necessarily be a huge announcement by itself, it could very easily coincide with other Pokemon news, such as a release date for the original games Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow making their appearance on the Nintendo eShop or more information on Pokemon GO, the mobile game designed for iOS and Android systems.
Regardless of what the announcement is, if Damon Baker can be believed, it isn’t long until we’ll find out – and it sounds like we should all be very excited.
