It's hard to find a company with a more impressive collection of classic games than Nintendo. From the original Super Mario Bros. on the NES to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Switch, the company has no shortage of stunning titles on its resume. In addition, most of these classic games came with an iconic soundtrack to support the gameplay seen on the screen. While players can listen to these tracks when playing these games, a group of passionate YouTubers has made it possible for fans to listen to some of the best songs from the Nintendo 64 even when not gaming.

One nostalgic group of fans known on YouTube as New Game Plus decided to share their love of video game music by making a YouTube compilation of Nintendo 64 tracks. The collection is impressive, featuring two hours of classic tracks from many retro titles. While the video contains all sorts of songs from the era, some notable inclusions in the playlist are “Dire, Dire Docks” from Super Mario 64, “Title Theme” from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and “Shooting Star Summit” from Paper Mario.

Besides providing fans with many classic tunes, the video features a cozy retro setting. It looks like a 90s gaming room, complete with an old CRT TV in the middle of the picture. In addition, an N64 controller is visible next to the bottom of the TV. One of the neat features of the video is that the retro TV shows the title screen of whichever game's music is currently being played.

In addition to this relaxing N64 music compilation, the New Game Plus YouTube channel has several more collections of gaming music. Beyond these N64 tracks, a playlist of relaxing songs from the PlayStation 1 era is available to listen to on the channel. There are even compilations featuring console startup sounds for gaming systems and music from video game water levels.

This relaxing video game music compilation has caught the attention of many nostalgic Nintendo fans. At the time of writing, the video has nearly 1.5 million views on YouTube and over 52K likes. Many viewers commented on the nostalgic music, saying it reminded them of the fun they had playing Nintendo games growing up. Others debated the best Nintendo 64 tracks of all time, with opinions including all kinds of games, such as Ocarina of Time and Mario Kart 64.

It's nice that fans have the opportunity to listen to some of these classic songs in gaming. As this video of relaxing music compiled by New Game Plus evidences, many of the tracks from the N64 era were so good that many people enjoy listening to them outside of gaming. While these retro songs fail to have the same level of high-fidelity sound and amount of instruments compared to much of the music composed for newer games, one could argue this only adds to the nostalgia.
