The first Ghostbusters film was released in 1984 and since then, the paranormal comedy films have inspired a cartoon, a reboot, several video games, and countless merchandise. An N64 enthusiast has taken it upon themselves to create a custom N64 that celebrates the Ghostbusters franchise.

Instagram user N64 Rescue has created a custom N64 that encapsulates the theme of the Ghostbusters logo. The retro Nintendo console is mostly black, with blood-red covering the power and restart buttons, expansion pack slot, and the legs of the console. The Ghostbusters logo adorns the faceplate of the N64 right in the middle of the controller slots.

Although there's a Ghostbusters N64 cartridge inserted into the game slot, there was never a Ghostbusters game for the console that saw the light of day. According to the N64 Rescue, the Ghostbusters cartridge is a blank N64 repo and there is no board inside of it. The Instagram user lamented the fact that they never made a Ghostbusters N64 game but they also speculated that it would have been really clunky.

N64 Rescue's Ghostbusters N64 is noticeably placed atop the first two films in the form of VHS tapes, maintaining the retro feel. Departing from the Ghostbusters theme, a grey N64 controller sits next to a colorful N64 patch. Everything is fittingly placed atop a bedsheet featuring various characters from The Real Ghostbusters cartoon.

While the N64 Rescue has notably created other custom consoles celebrating the Care Bears, Pokemon, and Power Rangers franchises, the Ghostbusters console is a clear standout. On their Instagram account, the N64 Rescue also has Dr Disrespect, Nickelodeon, and Toys R Us-inspired N64 consoles. Also included amongst the N64 units were Super Nintendo/Famicom, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy consoles as well.

Many Ghostbusters and N64 fans took to the comments of N64 Rescue's Instagram post to express their appreciation for the custom unit. Some fans said that they needed an N64 like this of their own and implored the N64 Rescue to sell them one. Two Instagram users reflected on a time when they owned the same bedsheets underneath the custom console.

Posting the same Ghostbusters N64 console to Reddit, N64 Rescue garnered a similar reception to the Instagram post. One Reddit user noted that there was a Ghostbusters game on the PSP, but that it would have been a stretch to expect a similar game on N64. Two Reddit users expressed frustration for the custom console due to the lack of a Ghostbusters game on the N64.
