Remasters and remakes are abundantly found on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, yet few are found on the Nintendo Switch. While full-blown ground-up remakes are desired with Nintendo's retro games, ports (transferring software from platform to platform) aren't bad either.

The Nintendo 64 was a ground-breaking system that introduced a host of 3D games. Nowadays, developers are introducing games with higher resolutions and frame rates, paling to the Nintendo 64's 3D bump up in graphics. The Nintendo Switch plays NES and SNES games but is missing most titles from the Nintendo 64. Here are the most coveted Nintendo 64 games for Nintendo Switch.

10 Pokémon Snap

Remake

With the recent buzz surrounding the upcoming New Pokémon Snap, there has never been a better time to bring Pokémon Snap to Nintendo Switch. If this pipe dream comes to fruition, players can delve into the nostalgic classic before hopping into the sequel. The graphics might be dated, but the gameplay is still enjoyable. Pokémon Snap was released with only the first generation of Pokémon. It's a game that newcomers and diehard Poké fans can enjoy.

9 Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 2

The second mainline Resident Evil game earned its reputation as a leading survival horror game. The original game launched on platforms like the Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, PlayStation, and Nintendo GameCube. Whether you prefer the 2019 remake or the retro classic, a Resident Evil 2 port is in the cards. Capcom has released recent games like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard on the Nintendo Switch, so a Resident Evil 2 port is possible.

8 Super Smash Bros.

N64 Smash

The original Super Smash Bros. is recognized by many as the best game in franchise history. Putting the nostalgic factor aside, an argument could be made that it's the superior game. With fewer characters to choose from, players became well-versed with each character. The Nintendo Switch's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate pays homage to the original by containing classic stages and characters. However, it's hard to top the near-flawless construct and competitive matches of the original.

7 Paper Mario

As usual, Mario sets out to save Princess Peach from the malevolent Bowser. The Nintendo 64 was the birthplace of many franchises, yet few compare to Paper Mario's groundbreaking nature. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars was the first Mario RPG, yet Paper Mario contained a more robust experience. With a lengthier story mode, diverse environments, and an intriguing storyline, Paper Mario is overdue for a Nintendo Switch port.

6 WWF No Mercy

The classic wrestling game WWF No Mercy released at a time when professional wrestling was at its peak. The Attitude Era came when the WWE was known as the WWF, and the sport was more adult-oriented.

For containing wrestlers like The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin in their prime, WWF No Mercy is one of history's best wrestling games. The developer THQ is now defunct, yet its legacy could live on if WWF No Mercy comes to Nintendo Switch.

5 Star Fox 64

Star Fox Nintendo 64

Fox McCloud of the Star Fox series is one of Nintendo's most recognizable characters. The character stems from the Star Fox series and also appears in franchises like Super Smash Bros. and Wario Ware. The space combat of Star Fox 64 was a leap up from previously released similar games. While alternative flight-based games like Star Wars: Rogue Squadron are likely locked behind copyrights, Star Fox 64 could come to the Nintendo Switch.

4 Mario Kart 64

In the kart-racing subgenre, there is an abundance of video games. Arguably, the Mario Kart series takes the cake for its class. Mario Kart 64 was an eye-opening 3D gaming experience. The diverse set of characters and maps to choose from was incomparable. Of course, everyone knows that Toad is the fastest racer; however, each racer has characteristics that make them worth playing. Features like catch-up prevented players from falling too behind, yet that was part of the game's appeal.

3 Diddy Kong Racing

While Mario Kart 64 offered more balanced racers for the inexperienced, Diddy Kong Racing did little to assist racers. It's more hardcore than other racing games. Memorizing track layouts and knowing what the best balloons are is beneficial. Further differing from Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing features a single-player campaign. With cheat codes, players could join together for a co-op campaign. Diddy Kong Racing DS proved that the game could be ported, and we are eagerly waiting.

2 Mario Golf

It's been suggested that the Nintendo Switch is long overdue for a Mario Golf game. The first Mario Golf game was released on the Nintendo 64 and on the Game Boy Color shortly after.

Nintendo has overlooked one of Nintendo's most coveted franchises. The most recent franchise addition, Mario Golf: World Tour, features online multiplayer. Mario Golf is overdue to be ported, but a sequel wouldn't be bad either.

1 The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time

Since Nintendo remade The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time for the Nintendo 3DS, it seems even more likely that it will come to Nintendo Switch. Widely considered one of the greatest games of all time, The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time contained a 3D world years ahead of its time. The game's sprawling world was unlike any other game. Whether it's a remake or remastered port, fans are clamoring for this game to come to Nintendo Switch.
