No one even knows what the Nintendo 3DS will look like, but CVG has a trusted source saying that the 3DS is on schedule for release in October. Yes, you read that right, the 3DS is going to be released in October, 2010. Previous estimates had placed the 3DS' release sometime closer to March of 2011, which shows that Nintendo must have a lot of confidence in the handheld. Or they're absolutely crazy.

Here's a quote from CVG's executive source:

"It's a surprise - we were expecting it much closer to Christmas. But I suppose it gives Nintendo the opportunity to get it front and center in people's minds nice and early."

What's most surprising to me, is that in order for the 3DS to launch in October its going to require a good selection of games. Games we haven't even heard rumors about yet, but must have been under development before news leaked about the new handheld. Of course, we haven't heard anything about Natal's launch titles either, and since they both share the same launch window maybe they're both just waiting for the perfect time to steal each others' show. Expect more information that a normal gamer can handle at this year's E3. I'm almost certain one of the Game Rant attendees, likely me, will never be seen again.

What do you think, Ranters? Are willing to drop some cash on the Nintendo 3DS as early as October? Or does such an early release seem completely nonsensical to you?
