Twitter has revealed that it will be discontinuing its Legacy Twitter service next month, leaving a small subset of gamers with one less avenue to share their accomplishments and other great moments. The Nintendo 3DS in particular relied on Legacy Twitter to allow users to share clips and screenshots from their games, something that won't be possible anymore as of next month.

For those that aren't familiar with it, Legacy Twitter (also known as Old Twitter) is the version of Twitter that runs on generic web browsers. Most users are likely accessing Twitter through the standard version by way of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, but certain devices like the Nintendo 3DS use a generic browser and therefore are only able to access the Legacy version.

Given that the Nintendo 3DS is almost 10 years old now, this doesn't affect a huge array of gamers, but for those that are impacted it is a bit of a letdown. The Nintendo 3DS didn't have a ton of great ways to share things built into the system, so many players took to using Legacy Twitter as a means of doing that instead. Twitter has been shutting down its Legacy service on various platforms throughout the whole year, but now it's been confirmed that the 3DS version of Twitter will be shut down on December 15th.

Other users report that the same thing is happening to the WiiU version of Twitter, as each of these consoles are accessing the same Legacy Twitter. 3DS players will still be able to share their accomplishments, but it might take a little more effort to do so. At the time of writing, YouTube is still accessible from these platforms, and players could always use an SD card to get photos and videos off of their devices.

The Nintendo 3DS won't be able to use Twitter as of December 15th.
