In a time period when social distancing and staying indoors for large amounts of time are necessary for many people's safety, the already immensely popular genre of online multiplayer games has skyrocketed. While evident through multiple games of varying settings and styles, Nintendo exclusive Ninjala can now also claim an impressive and ever-rising player base.

Having first released in June in 2020, Ninjala has seen a surprising rise in both growth and popularity over the past few months. Developers SOLEIL took to social media to not only make a new download count announcement, but also reward the community with a generous in game thanks to it's players.

Taking to Twitter, the developers announced the free to play game has reached an impressive 6 million downloads. In honor of this milestone, all players will also be granted 100 free Jala, the in game currency utilized to purchase game passes, items and cosmetics. Interested gamers should check the player inbox by March 24th at 6:59pm to claim the reward.

A unique and colorful multiplayer game, Ninjala features matches with up to eight players as well as a solo Battle Royale mode. The games setting and story is centered around a tournament being held by the fictional WNA (World Ninja Association) which has invented bubblegum that allows people with ninja DNA to perform the ancient art of Ninjutsu. Interestingly, the game focuses mainly on a parry and block melee combat system, utilizing various different weapon types and styles of play.

As a free to play game, the bar for entry to try this off beat multiplayer and story experience has been removed, encouraging players to give it a try who might overlook it otherwise. It will be interesting to see if Ninjala's player base continues to grow and expand as future updates and collaborations keep rewarding its fans.

Ninjala is free-to-play for the Nintendo Switch.
