Twitch is one of the biggest streaming platforms in the world. While content creators broadcast all sorts of stuff on the platform, it is well known for its numerous video game streamers, such as Ninja.

Since starting his gaming career as a professional Halo pro, Ninja has revolutionized video game streaming following his success with Fortnite. Over the last couple of years, he has become one of the most successful streamers in the business. Despite these stunning achievements by the Twitch star, his recent viewership isn’t what it once was on the platform.

In a recent interview with The Washington Post, Ninja spoke candidly about his decline in viewership on Twitch. He acknowledged that there are always new names appearing that draw a crowd. In addition, Fortnite, the game inextricably linked to his rise to stardom, is not as popular as it once was. This can be partly attributed to much better competition in the battle royale genre over the past few years, with games like Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends attracting many gamers.

During the interview, Ninja admitted that he is no longer the biggest name on Twitch. Compared to his past live streams that often had over 100,000 concurrent viewers, his streams these days consist of a more modest 10,000 to 15,000 average viewers. While these are still respectable numbers for most, this is a significant drop compared to his peak a few years ago.

However, this dip in popularity doesn’t seem to bother the streamer. According to Ninja, he isn’t focused on the numbers. While it’s true that various streamers now pull in more viewers, he is content where he is now. “No one’s gonna stay on top forever, especially when it comes to live-streaming,” he said. He explained that new creators are constantly surging in number of viewers on Twitch, making it difficult to remain at the highest level of popularity.

Surprisingly, it appears that he doesn’t want to regain the same popularity that he once possessed. “I have no intention of being that guy anymore,” he said. The reason he no longer wanted that level of popularity was due to his current life situation. He claimed that he no longer had the time needed to maintain that level of popularity. “I have a wife, I have a family,” he explained.

Despite not having the same numbers on Twitch that he once had, Ninja remains a notable name in the streaming industry. In addition, he continues to attract new followers to his channel. Recently, Ninja passed the 17 million follower threshold on Twitch. This was a massive achievement for the content creator, as he became the first to successfully reach the milestone. Following these comments from Ninja, it will be interesting to see what his plans are moving forward. Despite not having the viewer count he once had, he seems content with where he is in the streaming world.
