One of the big promises made regarding the Wii U upon its announcement was that it would have a larger amount of third-party support than its predecessor the Wii. The promise was a necessary one, but whether or not Nintendo could follow up on this was debatable. So far they appear to be fulfilling their claim, with a number of third-party developers announcing titles to appear on the system. Now, Ninja Gaiden 3 has gone one step further than the rest with the announcement that it will be a launch title for the Wii U's release.

Though there was a rumour that Grand Theft Auto V would be a launch title some months ago, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge can officially join titles such as Batman: Arkham City as those confirmed to be joining the system's launch. Tecmo Koei made the official announcement at its financial earnings presentation, and explained that the title would be based off of the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, which will launch in February 2012.

We still don't know when exactly the Wii U will be released, but there are plans to showcase it in June of next year at E3 2012. The most likely conclusion is that we can expect it for the 2012 holiday season, meaning we won't be seeing the Wii U version of Ninja Gaiden 3 for another year. There's also no information regarding differences between the other console versions and the Wii U versions, leaving quite a bit to speculation.

While the current details seem a wealth of information compared to past secrecy, there isn't much about the Wii U and its potential game line-up that we actually know. With so many third-party developers jumping on the bandwagon and preparing their games for the new platform, almost anything is a possible launch title. Everything from the next Call of Duty game to a Zelda game where you actually play as Zelda are worthy candidates for a system that may catch the attention of many. One can only wonder what else will appear on it.

Will you be getting a Wii U for Ninja Gaiden 3? What other big-name titles do you think could appear on it?

Ninja Gaiden 3 will arrive on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in February 2012, with the Wii U version coming at a later date.
