Without a doubt, the Ninja Gaiden series has been able to facilitate the balance between having a beautifully violent game that was a hair shy of being frustratingly difficult. Ninja Gaiden 3 is going to be no different. Sure, it’s gory and visceral when it comes to dismembering various opponents with an assortment of ninja weapons, but it takes a certain something to make it look as poetic and flowing as possible.

The latest screenshots for Ninja Gaiden 3 definitely drive the point home and show gamers what Team Ninja and Tecmo-Koei means by “violence at the emotional level.”

Ninja Gaiden 3 does have planned multiplayer support that has not been revealed at Gamescom 2011, unfortunately. Prior to this, we had hands-on time with Ninja Gaiden 3 at E3 2011 and were very happy with the results, but aside from the first trailer released, not much gameplay footage has been made available since.

Below, in the gallery, you will see the borderline ridiculousness of the level of violence for Ninja Gaiden 3. Blood is squirting everywhere, the Dragon Sword is puncturing fools with unrivaled efficiency, and Ryu is generally being a bad-ass. You will also be able to see the new growth Ryu has on his arm that will tie into a gameplay mechanic that let’s him summon his inner demon to make short work of opponents.

Ninja Gaiden 3 looks to be the more story-involved entry of the series. New mechanics, faster combat, and even more ninja badassery will all be contributing to make the third game be the one to pick up for sure, and something players unfamiliar with the series to look out for. There’s still a lot of information that still needs to be brought to light, including the other types of weapons to be utilized to defeat your enemies in the most aesthetically gruesome way possible. I hope they bring back the Dragon’s Claw and Tiger’s Fang, because two swords are always better than one.

Ninja Gaiden 3 will be releasing Q1 2012 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U.
