Popular content creator and streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins has been banned from Apex Legends, but he doesn’t know why. Ninja attempted to jump into a game of Apex Legends live on Mixer (his new streaming platform after moving from Twitch) but discovered that he could not access the servers.

At present, it is unclear why Ninja was banned by Apex Legends. Because it has been so long since Blevins has played the Battle Royale game on stream, there aren’t a lot of videos to try to search for clues.

To Ninja’s knowledge, his experience has been extremely positive with the game. He was among the group of streamers that first streamed Apex Legends when it debuted, helping build interest in the Battle Royale game before it reached the public. Electronic Arts reportedly even paid Ninja $1 Million for the Apex Legends stream, so it seems odd that the company would then ban one of their partners.

Even more strange is the fact that Ninja was the presenter at The Game Awards who gave Apex Legends its award for Best Multiplayer Game of 2019. It was a big night for Apex Legends too, with the Battle Royale game also debuting its Holiday event live during the show. Presumably, Ninja was jumping into Apex Legends to check out the Holiday event and the new mode, but it seems that will have to wait.

Given Ninja’s popularity and the news cycle that follows him, it’s very likely that his account will be unbanned quickly, if it hasn’t already. During his Mixer stream, Ninja decided to switch to a different game rather than try to work out his ban. Had this been Fortnite that banned him, he might have worked a little harder to figure out the situation.

Since moving to Mixer, Ninja has had a lot more freedom to branch out into other games, take days off to pursue other business opportunities, and he’s a lot less concerned with situations like these. Obviously, the lucrative Mixer contract helps ease that worry, but his ability to help foster a growing streaming platform is part of that too.

Still, he is very popular and when a big name streamer is banned by your game, developers tend to act very fast and figure out the situation. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Ninja try Apex Legends again tomorrow and find that his account is back in good standing – assuming that it wasn’t rightfully banned in the first place.
