When Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139... was announced earlier this year, details of the planned remaster of the 2010 Drakengard spin-off were very scarce. Now, fans of Square Enix's cult action-RPG series can rejoice, as the long-anticipated remaster of the version of Nier that never released outside of Japan now has an official release date of April 23rd, 2021. To make up for the long wait, Square Enix has not only revealed a collector's edition that will be launching alongside the game, but also some gameplay of the upcoming remaster.

Detailed during today's Nier "We Have a Decent Amount of New Info" Tokyo Game Show presentation, a new trailer for Nier Replicant's upcoming remaster revealed that the game is being co-developed by Toylogic, the studio responsible for assisting development on games such as Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age and Kid Icarus: Uprising. During the Tokyo Game Show stream, the game's development director Saki Ito joined series creator Yoko Taro, series producer Yosuke Saito, and the game's composer Keiichi Okabe, to briefly showcase combat and open-world gameplay.

Releasing alongside the game is a collector's edition is the "White Snow Edition," which includes not only the game, but a steelbook case, three pins in a collector's case, a two-disc soundtrack in grimoire-style packaging, and a seven volume recording script including every line of voiced dialogue in the game. This version of Nier Replicant has also had all of its dialogue re-recorded in both Japanese and English, including lines that were previously not voice acted in the original game. The collector's edition is currently available to pre-order exclusively from Square Enix's online store for $159.99.

Nier Replicant is the first entry in the Drakengard spin-off series that went on to spawn 2017's Game Award winning Nier: Automata. Replicant is one of two versions of the original title, the other being Nier: Gestalt, which was the only version of the game to be released in English in 2010 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This upcoming remaster of Nier Replicant marks the first time Replicant has been released outside of Japan and many features of the game, such as its combat, are being rebuilt from the ground up to more closely replicate the experience of Nier: Automata, which was developed by beloved action game studio Platinum Games.

NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... will release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 22nd 2021.
