As players work through NieR Replicant's The Fisherman's Gambit side quest chain, they will be tasked with catching a variety of different fish. More specifically, the first part of this chain centers around obtaining Sardines in NieR Replicant, while the second part focuses on Blowfish. For those fans that have made it past these preliminary stages and are now looking for the Rainbow Trout that are required for The Fisherman's Gambit Part 3, this guide is here to provide assistance.

To get right to it, players that are trying to catch Rainbow Trout in NieR Replicant should turn their attention to the Northern Plains. Indeed, the bodies of water that are situated just south of the entrance to the Junk Heap are filled with these creatures, and fans should fish around and under the broken bridge in this area. Furthermore, players should make sure to pick Lure before they cast, as it is the only type of bait that Rainbow Trout are interested in.

With respect to where to procure Lures, they can be purchased from the Tackle Shopkeeper in Seafront for 100 Gold each. Players that have already spent some time fishing in NieR Replicant will likely be quite familiar with this vendor, and they should be certain to buy enough of the bait to catch the requisite number of Rainbow Trout. That number is seven, and fans can go back to the Old Fisherman in Seafront and complete The Fisherman's Gambit Part 3 when they have enough Rainbow Trout in hand.

Upon returning to the Old Man, players will be rewarded with an increase to their fishing skill. They will also unlock the ability to purchase Rainbow Trout from the Fishmonger in Seafront and receive The Fisherman's Gambit Part 4. For this next part in this lengthy side quest chain, NieR Replicant fans will need to obtain a total of five Bream for the NPC, and those fish can be caught by casting Lures at the Seafront Pier.

One final thing to mention about Rainbow Trout is that they can be sold for 600 Gold each. While selling these fish may not be the absolute fastest approach to making money in this remastered action RPG, players that are strapped for cash should feel free to pass them along to a merchant. Certainly, there are many excellent items to buy with Gold in NieR Replicant, and fans should thus line their pockets in any way that they can.

NieR Replicant is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
