Whether they found these fun things to do during their playthrough or beat the entire game and never realized that they missed out on some of the fun, here are ten awesome things they didn't know they could do.

10 Make Decisions That Impact The Game

Throughout the game, players will have to make decisions that impact the story. Whether it be something small like lying to someone or telling the truth about one of their loved ones dying or something major that changes the fate of the main characters, players will have a reason to play parts of the game over again to see what would have happened if they chose to do something different.

9 Read To Learn More About Kainé And Emil's Pasts

When gamers hear the words "hack and slash", they don't think about reading chapters of a book. However, that didn't stop Square Enix from making fans read a lot to know everything that happened in the story, including things that happened to Kainé and Emil prior to meeting Nier, or whatever players decided to name the main character. While some may skip through these parts of the game, wanting to get back to fighting shades, those that want to know more about the plot enjoy this.

8 Ride A Boar

Players will constantly have to go from one area of the world to another, especially with side quests that require them to go back and forth. Luckily, they won't need to run all the way. One of the fastest uses of transportation that can be easily missed is riding a boar.

In order to ride a boar, players will have to complete the Boar Hunt! side quest, in which they agree to defeat a boar in order to help a villager. It's a very simple side quest and will actually spare time upon completion.

7 Go Fishing

Speaking of animals, players can also fish in the game. At Seafront, they can get a fishing rod, which will be needed to complete multiple side quests and obtain some items. With the exception of when they actually get the rod, fans don't need to fish and may not even think about it for the rest of their playthrough, but it's a great way to pass the time when they want to do something more relaxing in the game.

6 Customize The Characters To Look Like The Androids From NieR: Automata

Nier Replicant has a lot of new content for returning players

Though NieR: Replicant was the first title in Drakengard's spin-off series, NieR: Automata is the installment that gave the franchise so much popularity. The three main characters in the game, 2B, A2, and 9S are androids, and if players liked them or their designs, they can make Nier and Kainé look like them through a free add-on.

Besides the characters' designs, another way that NieR: Automata crossed over with its prequel was through its music.

Though both soundtracks are some of the best ever composed, fans may prefer one over the other and can easily switch between the two. And for those that like both equally, it's always fun to switch back and forth to decide which one is better depending on where they are in the game.

4 Play As Other Versions Of Nier

Nier Mysterious Stone

The original version of the game had differences depending on where it was released. One of the biggest changes between the release in Japan and other places around the world was the main character, with the Nier in this improved version only being in Japan prior to now. Before this, players controlled an older man who looked very different and was Yonah's father rather than brother. This version of Nier can also be played in the Recycled World quest. At the end of the game, players also learn about replicants and gestalts, realizing that the Nier they controlled in the beginning of the game can be considered to be a different character.

3 Play As Kainé

Besides all the different versions of Nier, fans can also control Kainé in Ending E, which contains one final piece of the story that is exclusively available on the new release. Seeing as how Kainé is one of the most beloved characters in the franchise, it's great that fans can now play as her and learn more about her after the events of Ending D.

2 Go Inside The Tree At The Forest Of Myth

The Forest of Myth is one of the most important locations in the game, despite how small it is. The biggest tree in this forest could only be seen from the outside, until Kainé gets inside of it in the beginning of Ending E, which leads them to a surprising and familiar area for those that played NieR: Automata. Fans may not have given much thought to the Forest of Myth throughout the majority of their playthrough, but it's one of the best locations now.

1 Get A Deleted Save File Back

As mentioned in the beginning of this article, players can make important decisions that impact the game's plot, with the most important being whether they sacrifice everything they worked for by deleting their save file in Ending D so they can save one of the characters. By playing as Kainé in Ending E, fans are able to bring their original save file back. Though it may seem like Ending D wasn't as impactful because of this, this new content was just as meaningful and serves as a great conclusion to the installment.
