Previously announced last month, the upcoming mobile game NieR: Reincarnation has just received its first official trailer. Given that the latest footage serves as the first look for the NieR mobile game, it doesn't really show that much action. Instead, the trailer mostly revolves around the game's basic movements, which was showcased via a young woman moving around a series of ruins with a companion following her.

The companion that was shown in the trailer appears to be similar to a pod sidekick that was featured in NieR: Automata. The trailer is filled with dramatic music and as the trailer continues, a soft angelic voice begins singing. Of course, fans of the Nier games would know how important music is in the game, given that the developers use it to deliver key emotional moments in the story. Unfortunately, the latest trailer did not divulge the release date of the mobile game.

Apart from the short trailer, and the fact that this mobile game is in development, no one really knows about the story of NieR: Reincarnation and how it ties up to the previous games in the NieR and Drakengard series. However, it is worth pointing out that NieR: Reincarnation's name suggests that it could feature a character from a previous game. As of the moment NieR: Reincarnation is the only game in the series that is currently in development apart from the NieR Replicant Remaster, and it is understandable that Square Enix wants to bring this franchise to mobile, especially after NieR: Automata's successful launch to consoles and the PC selling more than 4.5 million copies to date.

NieR: Reincarnation is currently in development for Android and iOS devices.
