Ever since the release of NieR: Automata, the spin-off series that comes from Drakengard has been nothing but successful. NieR: Automata has managed to surpass five million copies sold since this past December, cementing the series' popularity. And now, Square Enix has released a remaster of NieR Replicant and Automata has come to other platforms such as Xbox. Fans of the series are now awaiting yet another title that takes place in the world of NieR and that title is NieR Reincarnation.

NieR Reincarnation is an action RPG that released on mobile devices in Japan earlier this year that's directed by Yoko Taro and Daichi Matsukawa. It's its own entry in the series and has several ties to NieR but is not considered a spin-off of NieR Gestalt/Replicant or Automata. Some fans have been waiting for this entry to release in the west and the official Twitter account has shared some new information on the release.

Tweeted out this weekend from the official English Twitter account for NieR Reincarnation, the director had a message to share to fans who are waiting for info on the development status of the mobile game regarding the western release. The director's letter reads:

"My apologies for the long silence since the last letter. Please allow me to explain the current development status of the English version of NieR Reincarnation to those who are awaiting its release in North America and Europe. Localization for the initial release has been completed and we're currently making final adjustments in preparation for the upcoming preregistration. I apologize for the long wait, but we're doing our very best to ensure that everyone will enjoy playing NieR Reincarnation and it would be greatly appreciated if everyone could wait a little longer until the preregistration announcement."

As for the narrative in NieR Reincarnation, it centers around a world known as the Cage, and players control a young girl that's escorted by a ghost. Players will travel through areas that are full of dungeons and towers to reawaken fragments of a forgotten world to get back the memories that the girl has lost. It'll definitely take some time before the game releases, as the developers have yet to confirm a release window, but it seems that the NieR community on Twitter is happy to hear news about the game, even if it's just a small development update. Many of the comments on Twitter underneath the post give thanks to the account for sharing the news, and that they're excited for the game to finally launch outside Japan.

For those that are fans of the NieR/Drakengard series and Yoko Taro's work in general, they should know that he is currently developing a download-only title. Not much information about the game was shared, but Taro states that it will feel "nostalgic but fresh" and is also a game that is hard to explain and mentions that it'll be hard to sell to people. Whatever the game ends up being, fans of the Japanese developer will surely have more content to play that hopefully shares similar themes to NieR.

NieR Reincarnation will release for mobile devices in the west, but there's no confirmed release date. The title is currently available in Japan.
