GameMill Entertainment released Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl just recently, but modification support has already rolled out. One modder is making efforts to turn Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl into the next Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Modder NyxTheShield has released and shown off a handful of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl mods on Twitter that improve aspects of the combat. The modder has introduced some of the essential mechanics from Super Smash Bros. Melee to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. NyxTheShield has added dash dancing in order to improve the mobility of the Nickeloden All-Stars.

Anther mod from NyxTheShield removes Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's Jostle mechanic which makes characters collide with each other when they're not actively fighting. One of their mods also adds weight to attacks in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl due to alterations to hitlag calculations. According to NyxTheShield, doubling the hitlag calculations made the combat optimal and the footage showed combat very similar to Super Smash Bros. Melee.

NyxTheShield isn't simply modding gameplay aspects of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl as their mods are extending to the audio as well. Thanks to progress with external OGG files, the modder is working on voice modding in order to differentiate characters better. The video that NyxTheShield made to show off the audio improvements focused on SpongeBob and showed that they could repeatedly make the Nickelodeon character laugh.

NyxTheShield is also a developer and composer himself, working on projects such as Tormented Souls and Underverse and Glitchtale. Some Super Smash Bros. fans may know NyxTheShield for their work on the now cancelled ProjectNX. ProjectNX sought to make Super Smash Bros. Ultimate more appealing to long-time fans of Melee, but it was cancelled due to receiving a legal letter from Nintendo.

The Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl modder is actively working on mods for hitstun cancelling and jumping platform drops to further make the game like Super Smash Bros. The base version of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's hitstun shares more similarities with Super Smash Bros. Brawl than any other fighting game, but NyxTheShield is working to make it more like Melee. Gamers who were looking forward to the release of ProjectNX may see the changes they wanted for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate implemented in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

According to NyxTheShield, their distaste for the basic mobility in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is what inspired them to mod the recently released fighting game. They have an overall dislike for the base version of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl based on expectations ahead of its launch, but the ability to mod the game is improving it in their eyes. NyxTheShield has made a Discord server that allows him and other Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl fans to share tips on modding and the mods themselves.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is available right now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
