Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl most interesting pitch was that it crossed over characters from a variety of popular franchises few thought would ever come together. That Super Smash Bros. style of collaboration is rare, yet Nickelodeon's decades of children's cartoons lent it an opportunity to do something special. Now, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is following in Super Smash Bros. footsteps and releasing DLC.

In an announcement made on Twitter, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl confirmed that it is actively working on cosmetic DLC for the fighting game. More specifically, alternate costumes for the game's roster of unique Nickelodeon characters are currently being worked on. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl also confirmed that this cosmetic DLC will be made available for free to those who've bought the game, and it'll be a simple matter of downloading the DLC in order to use it.

While the implication is that there will be a variety of alternate costume DLC made available for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl over time, the team only shared a look at a single skin to start. That skin is for SpongeBob SquarePants, and it is fairly basic. It's the normal-looking SpongeBob, only he's wearing his patented "Soda Drink Hat." The hat features a #1 logo and can hold two drinks on its sides. SpongeBob fans will recall the hat from the episode where Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob the hat makes him look like a girl, only for SpongeBob to reply, "Am I a pretty girl?"

This is the first official look at Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's alternate costumes, but it is not the first time attentive fans have heard about the DLC. A leak going back to mid-October revealed several upcoming costumes, including SpongeBob's Soda Drink Hat costume.

The list of leaked other costumes includes Patrick with a cowboy hat, Sandy in a sports jersey and headband, Aang in a conical hat, Lincoln Loud in a beanie, Lucy Loud in sunglasses, Ren and Stimpy in Santa hats, Zim disguised as a human, Catdog in party hats, Nigel Thornberry in a safari hat, the Ninja Turtles in black and white, April in a green jumpsuit, Powdered Toastman in a speedo, purple Reptar, Helga in red, and Danny Phantom in inverted colors.

All of the leaked costumes for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl are referential to episodes or merchandise from their respective cartoons. Notably, none of them are major alterations to the base skin, which is an interesting decision, and perhaps more complex costumes are being reserved for premium DLC. Regardless, fans can expect to hear official word on when these costumes will be released in the weeks to come.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
