Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl made a bit of a splash when it launched back in October, though many thought it was lacking content. The game's developer, Ludiosity, seems to be working hard at fleshing out the game, with a new trailer revealing a ton of new character skins coming soon to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

It can be easy to take for granted how significant a fighting game's inclusion of multiple skins for its characters actually is. While in some cases it may be nothing more than just palette swaps, having additional variants of a game's cast helps keep track of the action when there are duplicate fighters, as well as allow players to express themselves a bit more. With the announcement of Warner Bros.' Multiversus, a platform fighter using that company's properties that is shipping with voice acting and alternate skins, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has taken a lot of heat from gamers for its omission of these features. Ludiosity announced recently that the game would be getting free DLC skins in the near future.

Following through on its announcement, Ludiosity has released a trailer showing off all the new character skins coming to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. The trailer cleverly taps into the late-80s, early-90s commerical aesthetic, promoting the DLC through a mix of live-action and gameplay segments, and using a variety of retro fonts and graphic design elements. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's Super DLC 3000, as it is being called, brings a new skin to every fighter in the game, some examples being the previously revealed soda drinking hat for Spongebob Squarepants, a Yaksmas variant for Ren and Stimpy, and retro, colorless skins for Leonardo and Michelangelo.

Players can look forward to downloading the Super DLC 3000 on December 3, with the Switch version coming later this month. Many of the new skins simply give hats to the fighters, with Patrick Star receiving a cowboy hat, Nigel Thornberry getting an explorer's cap, and Lincoln Loud getting a black beanie. Others are a bit more referential, like Zim receiving his school uniform disguise, giving him regular eyes and hair to hide his antennae, and Toph donning her battle outfit from the Day of Black Sun arc. What's left are mostly just palette swaps that may or may not be references to source material, like Reptar's purple recoloring, and April O'Neil's green jumpsuit.

As Ludiosity looks to revitalize Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, this is a great way to get the ball rolling. While it is only offering one skin for every character, and games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the upcoming Multiversus have multiple, it is still something for those still playing the game to look forward to. What's more, it's coming to the game for free, so no harm, no foul. If Ludiosity was charging for it though, for content that arguably should have been in the game from the start, then the Super DLC 3000 would probably have a much different reception.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
