The end of 2021 was eventful for the mascot platform fighter scene across the board. As Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was ending with the release of Sora as its final fighter, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl stepped into the ring, but sadly did not last very long in the spotlight due to lack of content and being fairly buggy. Shortly after that Warner Bros. announced MultiVersus, another mascot platform fighter drawing on the extensive catalog of IPs at WB's disposal like Batman, Shaggy from Scooby-Doo, and Finn and Jake (as separate fighters) from Adventure Time. In its last major announcement, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl confirmed voice acting was coming to the game.Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has been trying to turn things around after what fans and critics thought was a fun but pretty underwhelming launch. It seems that the next step in improving the game is just around the corner as Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is teasing its next big update.RELATED: Future Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Updates Will Add Voice Acting and MoreThe confirmation comes from the official Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Twitter account, teasing fans with a big reveal. Similar to how Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl marketed the Garfield announcement, players can tune into IGN on February 3 for what is being considered a "big update." Included in the post is a picture of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's fighter select screen, with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Leonardo, Michelangelo, and April O'Neil being selected for players one through three, and player four being unselected.

The largest sort of announcements that fighting games can typically do are the reveal of new characters. One need only look at the anticipation that went into every Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighter announcement as proof of the profound impact a new character can bring.

When it comes to this game, there are a multitude of characters that can be added to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, especially as there are some glaring franchise omissions. From My Life As A Teenage Robot's Jenny, the Crimson Chin from The Fairly Oddparents, or even Rocko from Rocko's Modern Life, Nickelodeon's history of programming is brimming with potential.

Based on the characters selected in the post's image, it would seem that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's next fighter is likely another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle character. The obvious choices would be rounding out the core of the turtles themselves by adding either Raphael, Donatello, or even Master Splinter, but they could also go the route of adding another human fighter like Casey Jones or Shredder himself. Only time will tell though, as in the end, this could be a big misdirect for the legendary Hugh Neutron or some other announcement entirely.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
