For fans of the acclaimed rapper, Snoop Dogg, and EA’s NHL 20, there has been a surprise drop of downloadable content. People playing the current iteration of the EA’s NHL franchise will now be able to listen to Snoop Dogg as a commentator as well as use him as a player on the ice.

The DLC was first hinted at on December 4th when The NHL 20 twitter account tweeted an image with “It's about to go down, fo' shizzle.”  The next day the company released another tweet stating, “The D O Double G @SnoopDogg is now in #NHL20 and it’s LIT!”, accompanied by an official announcement trailer.

Using Snoop Dogg in the game will come at no additional cost. Additionally, with the new update, Hockey Ultimate Team fans will also be able to unlock the Custom Snoop Jersey. Players will be able to unlock the jersey through the Hockey Ultimate Team Squad Battles.

Snoop Dogg is a known fan of hockey and no stranger to the world of NHL commentary. On January 12, 2018 the rapper helped conduct the play-by-play of the Los Angeles Kings and the Pittsburgh Penguins game. Snoop Dogg also worked with the NHL during the 2016-2017 season were he was the official DJ of the NHL All-Star Skills Competition.

This is not the first time EA Vancouver, the developer of NHL 20, and Snoop Dogg have worked together. Back in 2018 the developer and Rapper collaborated for UFC 3. There, Snoop Dogg lent his voice to UFC 3’s Knockout Mode as a narrator. Likewise, the famous Californian rapper has also made appearances with other developers in the industry. Back in 2014, Infinity Ward added Snoop Dog into Call of Duty: Ghost. In Ghost, players could use Snoop’s voice in the multiplayer portion of the game.

Although he is most known as a rapper, Snoop Dogg has expressed his love of video games many times outside of in-game cameos. Earlier this year the Snoop streamed himself playing Mortal Kombat 11 hours before the game's official launch. Also, during the release of the Spiro Reignited Trilogy the rapper received a copy of the from a drone that traveled from New York to Snoop Dogg's house in California.

NHL 20 is available now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
