Since it was revealed that Mewtwo would be coming to regular Pokemon GO raids, many have wondered what would become of the EX raids. Some thought that a special Mewtwo would continue to serve as an EX raid boss, complete with its now-legacy moves, but others have believed there would be a successor. Now, the latter has been revealed to be true, as the legendary Psychic-type Deoxys is replacing Mewtwo in EX raids.

A few elect Pokemon GO players received a notification through the official app, confirming the creature's role in the mobile ARG. However, not everyone received the notification, which suggests it could have been accidental. The notification doesn't link to an in-game news reveal either, making the notification somewhat suspicious.

Even if the notification went out early, it did come straight from the app, so players can feel comfortable and hyped for the forthcoming EX raid boss information. Presumably, Niantic will reveal more details soon, but for now, check out the notification below:

Of course, while many are excited about this news, many are likely upset that it is locked behind an EX Raid. The unique raid version has been contentious since its inception and will likely remain to be so as long as it is in the game. Still, a recent update made it where friends can share EX invites, so Niantic appears to be aware of the situation.

Nevertheless, while waiting for the forthcoming raid change-up, Pokemon GO players will be able to obtain a Frenzy Plant Meganium this coming weekend. While Chikorita Community Day doesn't appear to be anything special, the typical pattern suggests Cyndaquil will come in November and Totodile in January. Moreover, a recent leak has also suggested October's Community Day will feature Beldum.

All of this is exciting information, but for now, we wait. Hopefully, more information about Deoxys will come soon, and when it does, you can find it here, Ranters!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions for Android and iOS devices.
