Fortnite is one of the most successful games in the battle royale genre and has largely helped popularize the game mode. Despite the saturated battle royale market, Fortnite has managed to deliver crossover events and updates that have kept the majority of its player base entertained. It seems that the Epic Games is also using the platform to reach out to people and inform them about political topics that may impact them. For the second time this month, Fortnite is teaming up with We The People.

We The People fight against voter suppression by discussing the tactics that are used and sharing the thoughts and opinions of famous entertainers. The U.S. has a grim history of voter suppression particularly against black people, and these discussions will address the issues that people still face today when attempting to express their democratic rights. The organization will be hosted on Fortnite’s Party Royale mode.

Fortnite and We The People are continuing their initial conversation which began on July 4, and on July 28 this looks set to continue. The event will be hosted by Cari Champion and will feature famous guests such as rapper and activist Bun B, athlete and host Jalen Rose, athlete Hason Heywood, and comedian and actor Yvonne Orji as well as rapper Russ. Many will be interested in what these celebrities have to say and players will need to be on the game at  7 PM EDT to catch the conversation live. Fortnite is also offering an added incentive for players to join in the discussion.

Fortnite has many items to unlock and there is also a free emote coming with this event. Players will receive a free Verve emote for attending the event and while this may tempt some players the conversation itself is important. Recent months have seen video game publishers become increasingly political whether it has been in relief attempts for the coronavirus pandemic or supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. It now seems that Fortnite is continuing this trend and attempting to spread awareness of issues that will impact the upcoming election.

The previous event had repeats twenty-four hours after the initial discussion and while it has yet to be confirmed, this will likely be the case for this second event. It seems that Fortnite is leveraging its Party Royale to host important discussions and it will be interesting to see how the game continues to do this in the future.

Fortnite is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
