The wildly popular battle royale game Fortnite has hosted crossover after crossover, with the on-going Fortnite x Batman event just being the latest in a long run. Now, it seems after this DC event ends that it could be getting yet another Marvel event, if a recent change to Epic Games Worldwide Creative Director Donald Mustard's Twitter account has anything to say about it.

Those who follow Fortnite closely likely know that Mustard has a reputation for teasing crossovers, events, and the like via his social media account. His reputation precedes him in this matter, as many think that his recent cover photo change to that of Doctor Doom suggests a crossover is coming to the game, and it certainly may. For anyone else, this innocuous change would be just that, but because it is Mustard, it would still make sense to be Fortnite-related.

However, this could also just be a simple change on Mustard's behalf, as he is a huge Marvel fan. He's done work for the company in the past, as he wrote, pencil'd, and inked a page in Marvel Comics #1000. Another option is that this could be a tease, but for Marvel. It's within the realm of possibility that Mustard is doing some Doctor Doom-related work for the comic book company.

While the crossover event for Doctor Doom would be truly exciting for fans, this does contradict yet another event tease concerning Fortnite. A recent tweet by an Executive Producer of Are You Afraid of the Dark? teased an image from the show, but one not clearly of the show and more befitting the style of the battle royale game. A Fortnite x Are You Afraid of the Dark? event would excite as many fans and be timed a bit better than Doctor Doom, as the classic show is returning for a limited run in October.

On top of that, Fortnite has been known to run something Halloween-related in the past such as Fortnitemares, and between the two, Are You Afraid of the Dark? would make more sense to lead up to that. Either way, fans will have to simply wait, complete some Batman challenges, and see what comes next.

Fortnite is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
