Around seven weeks since its release in September, it is time for Amazon Game Studios' New World to get a few critical improvements that will make it a more enjoyable game to play. After incredible launch numbers on Steam, the game's population is now a bit more than 20% of its all-time peak of 913,027 players, and this is likely due to all the glitches and issues with New World's design that fans had to endure. After Amazon was forced to once again disable trading posts and shut down New World's economy, things are finally looking up.

Amazon listened to the community's feedback and implemented many changes with a PTR patch, including long-requested features like more movement speed on roads and a bunch of buffs to Dexterity weapons. New World's trading posts will all be linked, too, and the game will see the introduction of the brand-new Void Gauntlet weapon, the first of its kind to scale off of Intelligence and Focus. Many players expected these changes to come at a later date in November, but yesterday Amazon announced the patch would go live today, instead.

The official New World Twitter account tweeted that the new update would be launching today, and in fact, maintenance is already in place and will be for a bit longer. The update is scheduled to go live at 9 am PT, and it will include plenty of quality of life changes that range from bonus Luck and Gathering Luck while flagged for PvP to more enemy variety, which was one of the most lamented issues of New World. Another very requested change was to make story quests feel a bit more diverse than basic quests where players have to defeat a few enemies or gather items from chests.

This is precisely what Amazon is doing with this patch, where players will find more compelling mechanics that include wave encounters and destructible objects. Many existing New World weapons are receiving some tweaks, with Magic weapons being nerfed across the board and Dexterity weapons getting some well-deserved buffs, which will help in PvE and PvP alike.

Overall, New World should be in a better state than ever after today's patch, and there is a lot of new stuff to look forward to for all players. As such, it looks like New World players praising Amazon for its communication were right in doing so because this has led to many changes within today's patch being pulled from what the community wanted.

New World is available now on PC.
