New World, the fantasy MMORPG from Amazon Games, launched this week exclusively on PC. The game is set in an alternate 17th century and takes place on the fictional island of Aeternum. Players in New World take on the role of explorers and adventurers, trying to survive and unlock the secrets of the deadly island.

While many MMORPGs feature gathering and crafting mechanics, New World leans into its survival systems more than most. For example, players who want to use Gunpowder weapons will need to craft each bullet they fire. To avoid running out of ammunition, they'll need plenty of Saltpeter, which can be found all across the New World map.

Where to Find Saltpeter in New World

Saltpeter appears in New World's island of Aeternum as a light brown deposit on the ground, with pale veins running through it. It can come in a variety of sizes, with the visual size of the deposit indicating how much Saltpeter players will be able to gather from it. This can range from 1-2 for a very small deposit, all the way up to 20 or more for a large one.

These Saltpeter deposits are almost universally found in caves, animal lairs, and other underground regions of the map. Gathering Saltpeter is a good side activity to combine with hunting, as players will be able to find a lot of extra Saltpeter while searching in animal lairs. However, it's in New World's mines and more extensive underground areas that the real bulk of the resource can be found.

Where to Farm Saltpeter in New World

There are a few different farming spots for Saltpeter in Aeternum, all of which will be essential to any player looking to craft bullets in New World. While the Everfall region has very little Saltpeter in general, it also contains Ebonrock Quarry, which is probably the best source for farming the resource in New World.

Players in Monarch's Bluffs will have more luck just south of the city, with Bayhowl Burrow, Hurtfang Hole, Offal Grotto, and Adamant Mine all being fairly close and having good sources of Saltpeter.

Players who've started New World in First Light will have the least luck with farming Saltpeter in their local area, only having mediocre sources in Fullmoon Den and Letum's Pick. Finally, those who begin in Windsward have a source that almost matches Ebonrock Quarry in the Torrentdawn Cave point of interest, as well as a few deposits in Dankfur Hollow.

New World is available now on PC.
