New World is an action-packed game when it comes to both PvE and PvP content but it's much more than just fighting monsters and other players. Underneath the initial combat is a world filled with industry, revolving around taxation, land ownership, and a multitude of other things, including crafting and gathering. Although it may not seem like it from the get-go, gathering is one of the most important elements in New World, especially for players that want to make better gear, or more importantly, more gold.
But not all gathering materials are created equally. There are some items that are simply abundant throughout New World, lurking around every corner and available for prying hands to simply pluck as they walk along. Other items, like Petal Caps, are a bit harder to spot for new players. To better help locate these elusive items, we've put together this handy guide.
What Are Petal Caps And Where Do You Find Them?
Petal Caps are a crafting material that comes from gathering at a Fronded Petalcap, a strange green pointed plant that somewhat resembles the Echeveria Elegant succulent plant. These bulbous fronds are easy to spot, if players know where to look.
The Petalcaps that can be gathered from Fronded Petalcap are used in Alchemy recipes and are sometimes required for quests or Town Hall deliveries. To find them, players will need to head to the Windsward area of the map. These strange-looking plants can be found all over Windsward but seem to pop up mostly in the Western and Northern areas of the zone.
It's important to note that players will need a Sickle to get their hands on Petalcaps. Thankfully, the node that Petalcaps derive from doesn't have a specific Harvesting level associated with it, meaning players that are brand-new to the game can snag their own right out of the gate. The earliest Sickle players come across will suffice and they won't need any proficiency in Harvesting to start collecting the useful Alchemy ingredients.
What Else Comes From Fronded Petalcap?
The Fronded Petalcap node will usually reward players with the Petalcaps they seek but they're not the only thing that can come from the large plant. Here's a look at some of the other things that players may find (other than a Petalcap) at a Fronded Petalcap node:

Gathering at a Fronded Petalcap node will reward players with 46 Harvesting XP and 5 Character XP.
