Despite the fact that New World has been released around two months ago, there is still a lot about it players have yet to figure out, and that's because the game is conceived to be rather large. Many MMOs end up withholding secrets from players for a long time before they find out what's under the surface, and others simply don't hold the players' hands enough to explain every little thing. This is the case of New World, which leaves players to their devices when it comes to explaining more of the game's mechanics outside of the basics.

New World players often share misconceptions about the game on Reddit or other platforms in order to help fellow adventurers not to make their own mistakes all over again. An example is that Health Potions go on cooldown when used, and one would think that Regeneration Potions share the same cooldown because they too regenerate health, but instead they can be used together. This is just an example of some odd things New World does, and a player found one more when it comes to weapon differences.

A Reddit user by the name of EscapefromMeowkov shared a post that highlights an inconsistency in weight for endgame weapons, namely Epic gear for characters who are level 60 already. The items are shown in a picture next to one another, and the first is a Great Axe that weighs 12,8, while the other is a Bow that weighs 24,1. New World doesn't seem to specify which unite of measurement gear uses, but assuming each piece of gear uses the same, the player is legitimately concerned at the difference in weight between a notoriously heavy weapon, the Great Axe, and a Bow.

Some players tried to explain it through logic, in that the Bow might be made out of Ironwood, but even then, it doesn't really justify the difference with a rather heavy Great Axe. Another New World player said that this makes sense because it explains why Bow users often have limited mobility, whereas Great Axe players move at incredibly high speed in PvP, which in turn highlights another problem with Faction Wars.

New World is often filled with other strange things and funny anecdotes, so much so that a player recently told the tale of how they became a statue in Windsward. Still, it's not impossible that the weight difference highlighted in the post will be fixed in the future, especially considering that a rebalancing of New World weapons is necessary at the moment.

New World is available now on PC.
