Weakness of the Ego is a quest in New World that players can start by speaking with Adiana Theron. It centers around crafting three Corruption Tinctures, though fans will need to collect several different resources before that can be done. More specifically, New World players that are working on this quest must track down some Water, Petalcaps, and Rivercress Stems, and this guide is here to point them in the right direction.
New World: Where to Find Water, Petalcaps, and Rivercress Stems
To start with the simplest of the requisite items, Water can be extracted from the many rivers that are scattered across New World’s Aeternum island. Indeed, players must simply wade into one of these Fresh Water sources and press the input that appears on screen to collect some Water from it. Notably, players should obtain enough of the liquid for Weakness of the Ego by doing this just once, and they will be ready to move onto the remaining materials from there.
Perhaps the most sensible materials to target next are Rivercress Stems, as these are harvested from the Rivercress that appear around bodies of water. In particular, these plants spawn along the rivers between Everfall and Windsward, and their bright blue flowers make them quite easy to locate. New World players should make sure that they have a Harvesting skill of 30 and a sickle before they look for these plants, though, as those are both requirements for extracting Rivercress Stems.
Finally, players can collect Petalcaps from the Fronded Petalcaps that are in the grassy areas all around Windsward. These leafy-green plants appear in absolute abundance in this portion of New World's map, and fans that look there should have the three Petalcaps that they need in no time at all. As with the Rivercress Stems, players will need a sickle to collect this resource, but they will not need any real Harvesting skill.
New World: How to Craft a Corruption Tincture at an Arcane Repository
With all of the requisite items in hand, players are now ready to craft the Corruption Tinctures and complete the Weakness of Ego quest. This is done by visiting an Arcane Repository, and there is one to be found in each of New World’s settlements. Upon locating a Repository, players should interact with it, locate the Common Corruption Tincture under Resistance Consumables, and craft three of them. Fans should then revisit Adiana to finish the quest and collect the associated rewards.
