Amazon MMO New World has now been available for several days and its popularity has remained consistent. That also means that New World players have had to continue to deal with frustrating queue times as servers are overloaded with players looking to further explore Aeturnum. Amazon is opening new servers to deal with the influx of players, but that's not an ideal solution. As such, Amazon has now issued a new statement regarding New World's launch, queue times, and its plans to improve the state of the game.

The statement begins with a broad thank you to New World players for choosing to play the game. Amazon confirms that more than a million people played New World on its launch day and that number has only increased in the days since. The development team admits that it was surprised by the overwhelming number of New World players, both in a humbling way and an overwhelming way.

With that in mind, Amazon acknowledges that a lot of New World players are currently struggling with queue times as they try and play on servers with their friends. Amazon has taken a quick effort to open new servers day to day as necessary, ensuring that players have a way of playing New World without a queue even if it's not their preferred server. 40% of New World servers are described as having low or no wait times. Amazon also wants to recognize that server stability has remained reliable.

But, as Amazon has previously talked about, it wants to do more to make the state of New World better for players. There are two specific topics that Amazon revisits in this new statement. First, it's still working to increase player capacity on New World's servers beyond the current 2000-player population cap. There's no schedule in place for that, yet. Second, Amazon has previously promised to open free server transfers so players can start on low-population servers and join their friends, presumably after New World queue times have settled down. That promise is still being worked on.

While there's no date yet for server capacity to be increased, Amazon says that New World server transfers are planned to be released next week. Amazon wants to take the time between now and then to thoroughly test the feature since it knows thousands of players will be using it. Expect details regarding how server transfers will work closer to its release. Amazon says server transfers are "at the top of our priority list."

Obviously, it would be preferable for New World players to have server transfers available now. Many players are stuck separated from their friends, believing that Amazon would unlock server transfers much earlier. Short of that, having Amazon saying it's the game's top priority and is coming next week will have to do.

New World is available now on PC.
