Amazon's new MMORPG game New World was just released yesterday and players are flocking to it in large numbers. New World hit some impressive milestones in its first hours and set some impressive records. Along with its popularity came a few growing pains, however; players are experiencing some long queue times that is prompting Amazon to give out free server transfers.

New World launched yesterday to a half a million players, and that number must have been significantly more than expected. Some of these players have been reviewing the game poorly due to long queue times just to get into their servers. Some players have even mentioned that the character creation can take long enough that they lose their place in line. This unexpected overload has forced Amazon to rethink their server transfer policies.

New World's official page has released a statement after the servers had been live for about 24 hours. The blog post mentioned that the devs are aware of the "lengthy queue times" and are "working hard on a few things to help address these issues." It also mentioned that the company is working to put up additional servers and make some changes to help players out. Although the game has opened up additional servers in Australia and the USA, it is still offering players no-cost server transfers, even to new regions, for the next two weeks.

Amazon also offered some advice on how to keep from waiting in a long queue in the meantime. Since the server transfer option is not live just yet, Amazon encourages players to choose to play on smaller servers and avoid more populated ones in order to help avoid long wait queues in New World. In spite of this, players are still reporting very long wait times and having to wait behind thousands of other people.

This has caused a lot of players and streamers to react poorly to the new game. Between the low rating on most review sites and even streamer Asmongold slamming New World for the queue, things are looking a little bleak for the MMORPG's launch week. But there is hope for players looking to get into one of the new servers being currently set up; hopefully Amazon will continue to open up new servers across all regions in the coming hours. Until then, players and streamers will have to continue to wait to get into Aeternum.

New World is available now on PC.
