Like many games, New World gives players who own a plot of land within a certain territory to build and design their own housing. However, New World's take on player housing appears to provide some significant loopholes governing where items can be placed, which has led one player to decorate their house with all the furniture on the ceiling.

New World is set on Aeternum, a supernatural paradise island where the laws of life and death have begun to give way. It may not be surprising to learn that this has some significant side effects on the island and its residents, so an upside-down house may fit right in with the island's familiar, yet twisted image.

The house in question belongs to a Reddit user who carefully arranged a wide variety of furniture--including a rug, tables, chairs, a bed, and crates--on the ceiling and shared a video of it. Their architectural sensibilities extend to the rest of the house, with shelves, windows, and even a fireplace all placed functionally upside down, though the fire in the fireplace is still burning right side up. This isn't the first time a New World player has done something hilariously effective, but this upside-down house may be especially memorable.

According to the poster, putting the bed upside down rendered it inaccessible to them, preventing them from getting any sleep on it. Fortunately, the same did not apply to their dog, which can be seen lounging on the bed in the clip. The poster also noted that New World considers their furniture to have been placed incorrectly, putting their decoration points into the negative hundreds. They stated that their house will likely never be on the leaderboards, but the trade-off is worth it, especially since they can still get people to look at their creation on Reddit.

As of writing, it appears that other New World fans are quite enthusiastic about a house with upside-down furniture. Several users joked that the upside-down house belonged to an Australian, while another describes the house as having been arranged in Matrix-style. More fans were specifically interested in how the original poster managed to get the fireplace upside down. Currently, the only response the original poster has given them is the Konami code. They did share some plans to get a larger house and decorate it in the same reality-bending style, possibly with some added twisting and turning to really confuse onlookers' perceptions.

New World is out now for PC.
