Amazon Games's New World was only released a week or so ago, and the title is already generating a lot of big milestones. Not long after its launch, New World rose to the top of the Steam charts, likely indicating that gamers are still playing the MMORPG despite the many issues they have been experiencing. Now, players are weighing in more deeply into the game, and already discussing with the community what kind of quality-of-life changes they want to see implemented, especially about the in-game map.

Though New World seems to be massively played now, the game did not launch without its own host of issues. The biggest would be New World bricking expensive GPUs as well as the long queues to get into populated servers. These are only some of the reasons many gamers dropped the title. But those who persevered and were able to explore the island of Aeternum seem to be enjoying the experience. So much so that many have taken to running against walls to avoid being kicked out of the servers when they are AFK, or away-from-desk.

On the New World subReddit, a player pointed out one particular problem they noticed with the in-game map. Redditor iAmSyther stated that opening the game's map should be zoomed into their character's location by default when they are inside a town. Most players will likely recall that opening a map anywhere in New World would automatically show a zoomed out version that shows a broader view of the area. Given that towns in New World are large, and quest givers and points-of-interest can be hard to locate, the Redditor makes a valid point in asking for this QoL change.

Fellow fans and players chimed in with their agreement on the Reddit thread, stating that they are experiencing the same inconvenience. Some commenters mentioned that maybe adding a mini-map to the UI design would help address the issue of having to keep zooming in. Other players also used the same thread to voice out their thoughts on how to improve New World. Some talked about being able to remove notices for Upcoming Wars, while others hoped that in-game menus would be improved.

Overall, the players of New World seem highly interested in seeing the title improve over time. Given that the game is only a week old, it is expected that issues will arise. Hopefully Amazon Games takes the advice of its players, and implements the improvements asked of the development team in the future.

New World is available now on PC.
