Because Amazon Game Studios' New World is still in its very early phase after a successful launch on September 28, the MMO is likely to receive major updates in the near future. This includes new content that might take the form of additional weapon types, Expeditions, even new regions, and nothing is currently known due to the lack of a fully fleshed-out roadmap from Amazon. Significant patches could also take care of other requested features, like the plan to link all trading posts to improve the economy of New World and reduce the need to travel between settlements, and thus reducing the impact of travel fees.

According to the statements of a developer working at Amazon Game Studios, it's possible that AoE will also be changed in New World to prevent players from exclusively stacking area effects on top of one another in Faction Wars. This is due to the fact that Wars are meant to be exciting places where players can explore different playstyles and be rewarded based on their skill, rather than defeating enemies with area attacks and spells when they are capturing an objective.

A Reddit user by the name of Ansicone shared a post with a clip showing what a loadout system could look like in New World, allowing players to quickly swap between different pieces of gear based on the need and the situation. The video shows that players could create loadouts and name them, and drag them in bulk to their character's armor slots, and this could work both on a few specific items or a full loadout that includes weapons. Selecting items in bulk and placing them within their own category would be incredibly useful for a plethora of reasons, such as ease of use and better inventory navigation.

The main use of loadouts would be to allow New World players to go mining if they feel like it or see a decent node nearby when they have been fighting enemies or opposing players with a combat set. Switching freely between sets designed for a specific purpose would be a very welcome addition to the game that's hopefully planned for the future.

Because New World features eleven weapon types, a loadout system could help quickly change between them too, making combat more diverse and helping players level up different weapons more efficiently. Considering that it's possible for Amazon to release big patches in the holiday season, something similar to what Ansicone suggested is not impossible to be part of those.

New World is available now on PC.
