The crafting mechanics in games with survival elements need to always meet some sort of balance. A certain level of complexity is required in order to stimulate the minds of gamers but overly-convoluted crafting recipes can make the process tedious instead of fun--thankfully, New World seems to find this balance.

Those enjoying the fantasy MMORPG New World will find a comfortable balance in the crafting portions of the game, such as when handling certain materials and resources. One such material is Sateen, which is needed to craft some important engineering items as well as various sets of steel armor and more.

Updated on October 21, 2021, by Reyadh Rahaman: Players can make quite a few items with Sateen, and knowing their recipes can help one gauge the amount needed for their next crafting pursuit. Whether it is steel armor, ammo for firearms, or other assorted items, understanding what's needed is always useful.

Alongside Sateen, players will need other materials to create their desired goods. As such, one will have to either make them as well or buy them from other players in a settlement market. Lower-tier resources can often be found for cheap and are worth buying to save some time and effort.

Before one is able to perform the kind of refining that results in Sateen, a Tier 3 cloth, players will need to get their Weaving level up to 20 or higher to access it. Furthermore, gamers will need to find a refining station (must be Tier 3) called a Loom in order to work with any kind of cloth.

Looms can be found on the map as they are marked with an icon that looks like a house with verticals lines inside of it. Up close, Looms will look like large wooden frames with many threads vertically stretched upon them. To craft Sateen, players will need some components as well, which are Linen and Solvent--for each piece of Sateen, players will need 3 Linen and 1 Solvent.

How To Get Linen

Linen, like Sateen and the higher Tiers of cloth, can only be refined at a Loom, however, since it is one of the most basic craftable materials in the game, the Weaving level required to make it is very low.

Players will need to find Fibers by collecting Hemp plants in the grasslands and forests of this open world. It takes 4 Fibers to create 1 Linen, which should be easy to do since each Hemp plant harvested yields a ton of Fibers.

How To Get Solvent

Although players will need less Solvent than Linen to create their Sateen, this is a resource that's fairly important for other related refining recipes, so it would be wise to stock up on as much of it as possible. Solvent can be found in crates and other containers located throughout the world.

Be sure to search every container that one comes across in order to find as many materials as possible, as wild crates and chests are the only ways to get certain kinds of materials. Thankfully, a bunch of them spawn pretty frequently, so no players should be starved of resources.
