With Amazon's Game Studios' newest MMO New World, fans are given a variety of customization options in their fight against the corruption plaguing the world. Already, the game has hit an impressive milestone and climbed to the top of the Steam charts. Even Jeff Bezos comments on New World's success and all the records the game is breaking.
One of the most important tools for fans of the game is the Azoth Staff, potentially known by some players as the Corruption's Bane. It is the tool used to close corrupted breaches and access specific Expeditions. The Azoth Staff is available to New World players once they reach level 12.
However, there is a specific process that gamers need to follow in order to craft their own staff. So for New World fans looking to build their first Azoth Staff and take their first steps into becoming a Soulwarden, here is how to do it.
Yonas the Hermit
Fans need to follow the "The Old Man Who Cried Corruption" New World quest at the Fisherman's Bend to start the process. The bend is located in the southeastern portion of Monarch's Bluffs, in the little section that pokes into Winsward. There will be a rustic-looking town with a river, and at the dock, there will be an old man named "Yonas The Hermit," who will give them some pieces of the staff.
The Shattered Obelisk
Next, Yonas will give players instructions on the location needed to provide power to the staff. It will be at The Shattered Obelisk in Valle Tempus at the bottom of Everfall. Players can either run all the way there, or fast travel to the Inn not too far off in the north. Fans will know they are in the right place when they see a massive monument with light shining from the top and rocks floating around it.
Forging the Staff
Lastly, go inside the ancient coffins towards the back of the room. There will be glowing blue flames on the floor with the prompt "Create The Azoth Staff" popping up. Press the button, and the journey will be complete; just be sure to visit Yonas back at the docks again to collect the reward.
Yonas will congratulate the player for coming back, complimenting them for doing it effortlessly, and give them their loot. The reward for this quest is a level 23 Weapon Case, 3,540 XP, 79.50 Coin, and 120 Azoth. There are up to five more tiers gamers will need to reach before the staff is at full power, but now they can fight off the corruption like never before.
