New World, the fantasy MMORPG from Amazon Games, has bounced back from its launch-day server issues. Players are already spreading out across the island of Aeternum, finding new resources and gear to craft. Crafting is a huge part of New World's gameplay cycle, and players will want to be constantly gathering as they travel on quests.
While some materials can be gathered directly from raw deposits, others have only a small chance to drop when harvesting. This includes the rare Tier 3 Voidmetal, a vital component in many different New World crafting recipes. In order to gather enough Voidmetal for crafting, players will likely have to use several different methods of harvesting.
Best Voidmetal Deposits in New World
While there are a few different ways to gather Voidmetal in New World, all of them are affected by the Mining skill. The easiest way to find Voidmetal is as a rare drop in Iron Ore deposits. These deposits can be found all across the island of Aeternum, but are most numerous in the south, in the hills and caves that surround the Windsward and Everfall regions. The best overall farming spot can be found in the hills to the northeast of Everfall itself.
Players don't need any levels in New World's Mining skill in order to mine Voidmetal from Iron Ore; however, there are some Perks that can boost the chances of a drop. The Mining Luck series of Perks offers percentage increases to the chance of a Rare resource like Voidmetal dropping while mining any deposit that might contain it.
Other Voidmetal Deposits in New World
While Iron Ore deposits are the simplest way to do Voidmetal farming in New World, there are some other options too. There are two types of Elementals that players can encounter on the island of Aeternum that also have a chance of dropping Voidmetal. The first are Tundra Elementals, which are most numerous in the southwest quarter of the Reekwater region.
The second are Mountain Elementals, which are much rarer and can be found in the west of Weaver's Fen, or the center of Edengrove, in the far north of New World's map. Once players have killed an Elemental, they will be able to harvest it if they're at Level 100 in the Mining skill.
Finally, players will also have a chance of gaining Voidmetal while harvesting a Corrupted Orichalcum Spire. This is a rare version of a normal Orichalcum deposit, and is almost exclusively found in high-level areas.
