Released on September 28th this year, New World has had a troubling launch filled with gamebreaking bugs, economy-destroying duping methods, and other annoyances that made people's time in Aeternum needlessly border on tedium. The latest annoyance in New World pertains to the elite endgame zone called Myrkgard and the developer team's decision to change how the enemies scale in the zone.

Namely, in an effort to prevent players from "zerging" through the content in New World, Amazon Game Studios has implemented a significant buff to enemy health and overall stats if there are more than 5 players in the area, which has made fans of the game increasingly frustrated running through the content.

The peak of that frustration, no doubt exacerbated by the overall state of the game, came yesterday when players banded together to form a petition – with its stated goal being to have the developers of New World play through the content themselves on live stream, with some specific, carefully-worded conditions to boot.

The post on New World's forums calls Amazon Game Studios to host a live stream with developers from the team playing through Myrkgard, starting from one end of the zone, and ending at the other, in a group of 5 or 10 – with a fixed gear score of around 580. The live stream would need to use a Live build, as opposed to a Developer one, and the developers would need to kill all the mobs along the way, including highly problematic foes such as commanders, bears, and brutes.

The petition was met with a lot of support from the rest of the fanbase, who have pointed out that they would gladly support such an endeavor, especially if it was made as a charity event, and that it would provide the developers with a golden opportunity to come closer with their fanbase and connect with their community in good faith.

This isn't a new thing, as developers of other MMOs tend to live stream playing through their own content, with perhaps the Elder Scrolls Online team being the most famous example – regularly hosting streams of new dungeons and raids in a transparent, live experience. Another worthy mention is that Naoki Yoshida, Final Fantasy 14's game director himself, is in the top percentile of Black Mage players, and regularly clears high-end content in his own game.

Given the belligerent mood of the playerbase, New World's population dwindling, and the precarious state of the game, it would hardly be the worst course of action for Amazon Game Studios to seize this olive branch in earnest.
