One of the most anticipated games of the summer has been the MMORPG New World. Part of a genre that includes popular titles such as Final Fantasy 14 and World of Warcraft, the game has attempted to distinguish itself with hack-and-slash melee mechanics and impressive visuals. While the gaming community has taken notice, those excited for New World are going to have to wait even longer as the game has been hit with another delay.

In a message released by the official New World Twitter account, it was revealed that the MMORPG has been postponed until next month. The release date for the game is now September 28. The company cited the feedback gained from the community during the recent closed beta as a major reason for the delay. According to the developers, the additional couple weeks will allow them to "smash bugs, improve stability, and polish the game."

This isn't the first delay that fans have had to endure. They have had to wait multiple times as Amazon Games Studio has continued to postponed the release of the game. Originally planned to release on May 26, 2020, New World was delayed due to the global pandemic. Over the following months, the game ended up receiving even more delays in an attempt to improve the gameplay experience.

New World hosted a closed beta last week, giving those that pre-ordered a chance to dive into the action. Despite the pre-order barrier to entry, New World's pre-release beta proved extremely successful for the company. According to the developers, it became one of the most popular titles on Steam, and players logged over 25 million hours in the game. As these numbers suggest, the fanbase seems extremely excited to play more of the MMORPG.

While the game has enjoyed widespread success in its pre-release tests, there are those that have been skeptical of the title. Players such as Summit1g have criticized New World's PvE system, suggesting that the developers need to improve boss encounters by introducing AOE attacks. Others critical of the game include popular streamer Asmongold, who has concerns about movement mechanics along with worries about how the game runs on PC.

This newest delay is somewhat concerning for fans of the game, as the company has yet to publish a successful title. Its previous project known as Crucible was quickly cancelled after release. As the release date continues to be pushed backed for New World, it's likely some of the excitement surrounding the game's upcoming launch has been lost. At least players will only have to wait a little over a month before they can try the game out for themselves.

New World is scheduled to be released on September 28 for PC.
